The Lady Devils soccer team got a 9-0 win against the Hayesville Yellow Jackets on Monday at a home game, which consisted of a proficient run of scoring.

Mya Burrows-Kurr found Cora Watkins for a goal around five minutes into the game, and then found Kathryn Roland for a second one not long after.

Then Isabella Walker got the ball to rebound off the goalkeeper, burying it in the back of the net.

Karena Cline then found Burrows-Kurr for another goal and Watkins found Cline for one shortly after that.

By the end of the first half of the game, the Lady Devils got 7 points while Hayesville didn’t have any.

The second half saw some more scoring by the Devils, with Cline finding Burrows-Kurr for a goal fairly quickly, and then Audrey Monteith finding Cline for one four minutes later – the Devils’ final goal of the game, and the last one scored by either team.

Four girls tied for defense, each with three clears/steals – Emmie Fuller, Anna Gray, JC Parsons and Sophie Matz. Karena Cline was the player of the game.

Head Coach Scott Cline said Karena “did a great job controlling the middle of the field and distributing the ball,” adding that she would often get the ball where it needed to be, positioning it for a goal.

Cline said the game was a good one to come back from Spring Break with.

“We played a solid game. Coming off of Spring Break we didn’t know what to expect.”he  said. “Our warm ups were not where we wanted to be, but the girls really pulled it together for the game.”
