Bryson City Fire Department responded at 5:51 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 29 to the area of Main Street for a report of a vehicle fire that was spreading to the occupied residence. The vehicle was destroyed in the blaze, but firefighters were able to get the fire under control without the residence sustaining major damage. The occupants escaped without injury. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Responding agencies also included Swain County Sheriff's Office, Alarka Volunteer Fire Department, West Swain Volunteer Fire Department, Swain County EMS.
