Each year the Swain County United Gift Fund (SCUGF) sets its annual fund-raising goal based on the needs of the nonprofits requesting grants. Last year’s goal was set at $56,000 with 14 participating Swain County nonprofits in 2021.
The “Give Once to Benefit Many” adage resonates well with their donors, and the SCUGF was able to raise $75,000, exceeding all expectations! Not only are 100% of all donations placed right back into Swain County, but 100% of the donations brought in are distributed.
The SCUGF uses its twice-yearly luncheon to fund all its fundraising efforts.
All gifts/donations were distributed among the following Swain County nonprofits: Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Swain County, Bryson City Food Pantry, Coalition for a Safe and Drug Free Swain County, Giving Spoon, Julia Hunt Scholarship Fund, Life Choice Pregnancy Center of WNC, Marianna Black Library, Maroon Strong Foundation, Mountain Mediation, Restoration House, Smoky Mountain Community Theater, Swain County Caring Corner, Swain/Qualla SAFE, and Together We Raise of Swain County.
The SCUGF is a donor-advised fund of the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina. Donations by check made out to the “Community Foundation of WNC” can be mailed to SCUGF, P.O. Box 222, Bryson City, NC 28713. Donations by credit card can be made by clicking on the “Give Now” tab at WWW.CFWNC.ORG.
