David Carl Wahlstrom, 79, was born October 7, 1942 and he laid down his tools, after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, on December 31, 2021. He died peacefully in his home, Streamsong, that he loved so much. A native of Massachusetts he lived many years on Cape Cod and Naples, Florida before retiring to Bryson City, North Carolina. He spent his last years enjoying all that North Carolina has to offer, hiking, fishing, golfing and when Covid hit he spent his days working his property on his tractor.

David was a proud Air Force Veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He was a man of many talents and he had many occupations during his life. He retired from Masco Corporation where he spent most of his working career as a Sales Manager for their cabinet division. Dave was a member of the Cypress Masonic Lodge in Naples, Florida, one of his proudest accomplishments.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Luanne. He leaves behind his children Gary, Kira, Seth, Meika, and Karen. His oldest son, David, predeceased him. He also leaves 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Dave lived his life to the fullest and he had a wonderful sense of humor that he shared freely with everyone he came in contact with. Dave was that guy who always carried a pocketknife. He worked hard for a living, fixed what was broken and lent a hand to anyone who needed it. Dave was a good man who could make anyone laugh. The world needs more guys like Dave, good men who carry a pocketknife, help where they can and bring a smile to others faces. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at The Grove Church in Bryson City on October 15th at 11 a.m. to celebrate what would have been his 80th birthday. Per his request a Masonic Funeral Ritual will be part of the ceremony. This celebration will also be streamed on Youtube for those unable to attend in person. He will be interred in The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

In lieu of flowers, Dave requested that contributions be made in his memory to youth programs at The Grove Church.
