Bryson City— Frances Lowery (Pat) Colville, age 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, James Lowery Colville and Frances Armitage Colville.

She is survived by her half-brother, Bryson Colville, and her half-sister, Polly Colville, both of Cullowhee.  Pat is also survived by several first cousins and her special friend, Vicki Horne.

Pat attended Swain County High School and is a 1974 graduate of Western Carolina University, where she earned a degree in Health and Physical Education.  Pat worked for the Swain County School system for over 30 years as a teacher and coach.  She touched so many lives with the positive impact she had on all she met.  Pat will be remembered for her coaching skills, storytelling and her great love for animals…and maybe her ability to throw a clipboard!

Pat was a member of Bryson City United Methodist Church and was an avid golfer and enjoyed most all athletics and outdoor activities.  She was recently employed at Clampitt Hardware Store in Bryson City, where she greatly enjoyed meeting old and new friends.

A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Bryson City United Methodist Church.  Reverend Wayne Dickert officiated.

The family greeted friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Due to Covid-19, all protocols and mandates were requested to be followed.  The service was live streamed on the Bryson City United Methodist Church Facebook page at https://www.Facebook.com/BrysonCityUMC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to P.A.W.S. Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 1814, Bryson City, NC 28713.
