Ireta Egbert Bradley, 81, passed peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, North Carolina.

Ireta was born on May 26, 1941, in Rexburg, Idaho. She was the fifth of six children born to the late Herschel Whittle Egbert and Eva Lorene Sanders.

In addition to her parents, Ireta was preceded in death by her husband, Joe L. Bradley, and her siblings, Pauline Howell, Ronella “Deannie” Bratlie, Doyle Egbert, and Vernon “Don” Egbert. She is survived by her children, Bobbette (Jerry) Jones of Harrodsburg, KY, Dallas Bradley (Vickie) of Whittier, NC, Roger Bradley (Aimee) of Caldwell, ID, Vincen Bradley (Gina) of Whittier, NC, and Roy Bradley (Maria) of Whittier, NC. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grand-children with two more expected.

Ireta was raised in Marysville, ID on the family farm. She was married to Joe L. Bradley on April 17, 1965, at her family home in Marysville. She earned an Associate Degree from Rick’s College in 1961 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Brigham Young University in 1974. Following school, Ireta worked as a teacher in Idaho, serving for 10 years at Groveland Elementary School in Blackfoot, ID. Ireta and Joe moved their family to Whittier, NC in 1984 where she continued her teaching career. After retiring from teaching, Ireta worked as a CNA doing home health care for the people of Swain and Jackson County. Ireta dearly loved the children she taught and the patients she served.

Funeral services were held on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Cherokee Ward with Brother Leon Jenks officiating. Burial followed  in the Wilmont Cemetery. The family received friends on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva, NC.
