Lyle “Brent” Thomas went home to be with his Heavenly Father on February 1, 2022. A native of Bryson City, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patsy Crisp Thomas; great grandson, Bryce Aaron Crisp; son, Windell Joe Crisp; and brother-in-law, Vance Greene, Jr.

Brent is survived by his mother, Mildred Tallent; sisters, Kathy Greene and Patricia Maxine Trosclair; brother, Harvey Bryson Jr. “Chip”; son, Lewis Crisp and wife Connie; daughter-in-law, Connie Cochran Crisp; grandchildren, Trent Crisp (Liana), Josh Crisp (Meredith), Isaac Crisp (Brittany), Heather Nations (David). Great grandchildren, Lane Crisp (Breanna), Ashlyn Nations, Emily Nations, Kandyce Crisp, Brady Crisp, Jude Crisp, Elias Crisp, Asa Crisp, and Liam Crisp. Great great grandchildren, Ryver Crisp and Brynnlee Crisp; nieces, Robin Laws(Michael), Olivia Greene Karyn Greene, and Emily Smith (Jacob) and nephews, Vance Greene III, and Mikel Laws.

Brent served nine years in the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars among others. He was proud of his service to his country. Brent was loved by all who knew him and would help anyone he could. He will always be known as a “Gentle Giant.”

Funeral services were  held at 12:00 pm Saturday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Shane Roughton officiated with burial in Swain Memorial Park with full military honors.

The family will received friends from 11am to 12 pm Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Trent Crisp, Brady Crisp, Josh Crisp, Isaac Crisp, Lane Crisp and Mikel Laws.
