Ronnie Hutchins, 72, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Friday, May 21, 2021 at Haywood Nursing and Rehab. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Clinton Roosevelt and Faye Shook Hutchins.

He was a member of Arlington Baptist Church and the original lead singer for The Inspirations. At one point, he had his own group called Southern Knights who opened for Billy Crash Craddock. Ronnie left the Inspirations and was with The Lefevre’s. After years with the Lefevre’s, he returned to the Inspirations to finish his career. He wrote numerous gospel songs during his career. He was a 1968 graduate of Swain County High School.

In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his siblings, Susan, Lowell and Robert Hutchins who all died at birth.

He is survived by his brother, a 1956 graduate of Swain County High School, Charles “Norman” Hutchins; cousin, Tim Shook; and aunts, Marie and Carolyn Greene; six nieces and nephews, Darrell Hutchins, Denise Hutchins, Lisa Hutchins, Nicole Flanegan, Kristina Comstock, and CJ Hutchins; 9 great nieces and nephews; and four great great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Arlington Baptist Church with Norman Hutchins and the Inspirations. The time and date will be published.
