Swain indoor track season begins

After another state championship win for the Lady Devils and a 7th place in the state finish for the Maroon Devils cross country teams, Swain running sports are at it again, going for another indoor track state championship after the Lady Devil’s win last year.

On Wednesday, kicking off the indoor track season, Swain hosted the Swain County Polar #1 at Swain High School.

 

 

Maroon Devils results:

For the boys 55 meter dash, Maroon Devil Joe Bjerkness placed 7th with 9.05, for the 300 meter dash Kelan McCullough was 1st with 41.19, and Austin Jenkins 4th with 42.45. For the boys 500 meter dash Carl Baird was 4th with 1:25.53 and for the 1000 meter run Abhi Patel was 4th with 3:10.83 and Corey Wolf was 6th with 3:15.54. For the 1600 meter run Nathan Brown was 6th with 6:03.43 and Jackson Pittard was 7th with 6:07.33. For the 55 meter hurdles Austin Jenkins was 1st with 8.29 and in the 4x200 meter relay Swain placed 3rd with 1:58.05, for the 4x400 meter relay Swain placed 3rd with 4:28.69, the 4x800 relay Swain was 2nd with 9:20.18. In the boys long jump, Swain’s David Dingle was 5th with 12-06.00 and Dingle was 2nd in triple jump with 30-00.00. In pole vault Kelan McCullough was 2nd with 11-06.00 and in shot put Nse Uffort was 4th with 40-04.00 and Owen Kennedy was 6th with 24-04.00.

 

Lady Devils results:

In the girls 55 meter dash, Swain’s Marlee Hicks was 3rd with 8.31, Naomi Feagin was 6th with 8.52, Kinsley Hyatt was 8th with 8.99, and Mahala Bird was 10th with 9.41. For the 300 meter dash, Sienna Hackshaw was 2nd with 48.67, Melani Linton was 4th with 50.67, Marlee Hicks was 7th with 51.35, Alden Thomas 8th with 51.43, Kinsley Hyatt 10th with 53.05, and Hannah Wingate 13th with 58.81. In the 500 meter dash, Annie Lewis was 3rd with 1:28.88, Audrey Monteith 4th with 1:46.28, and Marden Harvey 5th with 1:46.38. In the 1000 meter run, Angelina Lomelli was 3rd with 3:46.18 and Josephine Parsons was 5th with 4:39.03. Lilah Foster was 1st in the 1600 meter run with 6:39.95 and in the girls 55 meter hurdles Melani Linton was 3rd with 10.90 and Kiersten Smith was 5th with 12.50. Swain was 2nd in the 4x200 meter relay with 2:02.54, 2nd in the 4x400 relay with 4:50.54, and 1st in the 4x800 relay with 11:26.65. In high jump Gracie Sutton was 2nd with 4-10.00 and Alden Thomas was 6th with 4-04.00. For long jump Naomi Feagin was 7th with 13-06.00, Kiersten Smith 8th with 12-07.00, and Kinsley Hyatt 10th with 11-03.25. For triple jump Isabella Walker was 5th with 28-08.00, Kiersten Smith 6th with 28-03.50, and Kinsley Hyatt 7th with 26-00.25. For pole vault Alden Thomas was 2nd with 7-06.00 and Hannah Wingate 4th with 7-00.00. In shot put Carley Teesateskie was 1st with 32-03.50, Haley Teesateskie 4th with 25-02.00, and Malla Bradley 5th with 24-00.00.

Swain’s next home indoor track meet will be Wednesday, Dec. 7.
