It was another devastating night for the Maroon Devils with a mere three-point loss of 69-66 in the last few seconds of the game. Swain was about 10 points behind going into the 4th quarter but made several shots to put them back in the game. Cameron Blankenship hit a three pointer with four seconds left on the clock to tie the score. Unfortunately, the Thomasville Bulldogs answered the shot with a far out three-pointer at the buzzer to end the game three points ahead.

“I’m really proud of our entire program. From 9th to 12th grade. We had two teams that combined for 33 wins this year. Had a JV team win a conference championship. It has been a good year for Swain County Basketball,” Coach Scotty McMahan said.

Senior Carter Kirkland had 18 points during the game, Cooper Hyatt had 17, Donnavin Groenewold with 16 and Isaiah Collins with 12 points for the night.

“Our kids continued to work hard every day. I hate that we could not make a run at getting to Greensboro. It was devastating to lose on a buzzer beater. Still does not take away what a great group of guys we had this year,” Coach McMahan said.
