Swain girls’ basketball competed in the first round of the playoffs against Draughn High School in Valdese, North Carolina on Tuesday for a 66-60 win, advancing them to the next round of the playoffs.
After the half, the Lady Devils were leading Draughn by one point, 28-27 and ended the third quarter tied at 45-45. With one minute left in the game the ladies were up by one 58-57, leaving fans on the edge of their seats. With 20 seconds left, they were up by three and ended up winning by six.
Mazie Helpman had a team high of 31 points. Amaya Hicks had 10 points and Maddie Spates had 9 points.
Savana SMith and Maya Burrows-Kurr finished with 8 each.
The second round will be Uwharrie Charter School in Asheboro on Thursday.
