The Swain High golf team started the season on Tuesday, March 1 at Sequoyah National in Cherokee. Leading the charge was senior Joe Eagleman firing a +4 round of 40. This performance earned him individual medalist for the tournament.

Coming in second place was senior Will Jenkins with an +8 round of 44.

Both Eagleman and Jenkins are returning starters from last season with their eyes on winning the conference and competing at the state championship.

Playing in their first golf match was freshman Landon Harrison (59), freshman Clay Seagle (63), and senior Abram Thomas (63). The team total for the tournament was 206, which took first place over Highlands with 225 and Cherokee with 231.

“This was a great start to our 2022 season,” Coach Joshua Crisp said. “We have a lot of new faces out here and trying to get playing experience under their belts is a welcome challenge.” The team will travel to Chatuge Shores in Hayesville, next Tuesday, March 8.
