Swain JV football remains undefeated!

Last Thursday, the Swain Maroon Devils JV football team competed at home against the Andrews Wildcats. The Devils went into the game undefeated with a 3-0 record to Andrews’ 1-2.

Swain had previously won over Avery County 52-20, Rosman 34-6, and Robbinsville 12–8.

At the game against the Wildcats, the Devils broke out the scoring early in the 1st quarter and 8th grader Kaden Sawyer broke away for an impressive touchdown with 1:41 left in the 1st quarter bringing the score to 22-0 for Swain. With 6:32 left in the 2nd, 9th grader Skeet Cook ran a touchdown in making the score 29-0 before halftime.

Swain continued a montage of scoring and with 3:48 left in the 3rd the score was 41-0. The Devils got another touchdown before the clock ran out in the 4th quarter, ending the game with 48-0 for the Maroon Devil win.

On Thursday, Swain will travel to Hayesville to take on the Yellow Jackets on their home turf. The Jackets are currently 3-1 and the Devils enter this game 4-0, so it’s sure to be an entertaining matchup. Next week, Sept. 22, Swain will host the Murphy Bulldogs for a home game beginning at 6 p.m.
