Last week, Swain Middle School’s girls wrestling team competed in what is believed to be the first all girls middle school match ever in North Carolina with Robbinsville Middle School.

“Our girls have come a long way since the start of the season and have a bright future ahead of them,” Coach John Roper said. “They wrestled tough and were behind each of their teammates as they competed. It came down to the last match of the night.”

Swain went on to win 30 to 24 thanks to a pin by Harper Welch, according to Coach John Roper.
