Search on for suspects in Alarka homicide

The Swain County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance from the public in a homicide case.

Lorene Dawn Morris, 70, who resided at 850 Deep Gap Road in Alarka, is dead. Law enforcement believes she was killed on Friday, Aug. 14 and the suspect or suspects took off in her vehicle. No further information on the details of the case have been released.

The sheriff’s office is looking for a dark blue 2002 Ford Explorer with North Carolina plate number of BCK5266, which was stolen from Morris’ residence.

If you see this vehicle, call 911. Do not attempt to approach this vehicle, as the victim’s assailants are believed to be occupying it.

The department is also seeking information on anyone who might have visited the address from Aug. 5-Aug. 14.
