Lady Devils volleyball now 2-2 on season

After starting the season with two straight-sets victories over Cherokee and Andrews, Swain County volleyball dropped consecutive matches against Rosman and Murphy to bring its record to 2-2 four games into the abbreviated 2020 season.

The Swain County girls cross country team continued its hot start to the chilly, late-fall season with another dominating performance ahead of the Thanksgiving break. The Lady Devils placed the race’s the top three runners, with Gracie Monteith winning the vent with a time of 22:16.

Swain County’s community spread of COVID-19 increased in the second week of the state’s County Alert System. Combining three metrics including case rate, percent of people testing positive for the virus and hospital impact, the alert system placed Swain County as Red for Nov. 6-19.
