Fireworks festivities in Sylva

In neighboring Jackson County, Fireworks Festivities will return again to downtown Sylva for the second year after a seven-year hiatus.

This year’s special event will feature a spectacular fireworks show when the sun goes down on Monday, July 4. The fireworks will be shot from property in the Sunrise Park district donated for use by Wayne Smith.

The holiday will start with a performance by rising WNC country music artist Joe Lasher Jr. from 4 p.m.-6 p.m., followed by a three-hour performance by Groovetown, a first-class rhythm and blues band sure to get people up and dancing from 6:30 p.m. until the fireworks display begins at dark.

The fireworks are solely produced by the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce with assistance from the Town of Sylva, Jackson County Parks and Recreation, Jackson County government and emergency services.

There will be food, drinks and children’s activities as well.
