Ruth Carver Hollifield
Ruth Carver Hollifield, 87, of Bryson City, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Blue Ridge on the Mountain in Sylva, NC.
A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late Patton and Mae Williams Carver.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Hollifield; her grandson, Robbie Hollifield; her sister, Patricia Neubert; and her brothers, Tony, Bill and Joe Carver.
Ruth retired from Swain County Hospital after working there for 25 years as a Pharmacy Technician. In 2009, the year she turned 80, she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Humanities.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Eddie and Marcia Hollifield of Robbinsville, NC; Allen and Pam Hollifield of Bryson City, NC; Kathy and Jim Ammons of Franklin, NC; and John and Linda Hollifield of Milton, FL. She has 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Townson-Smith Funeral Services. The Reverends Charles Ray Ball, Keith Ashe, and Morris Rogers officiated. Burial followed at Swain Memorial Park in Bryson City, NC.
The family received friends from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel, prior to the service.
