Two arrested on child abuse charge
On Tuesday, Aug. 8, a Bryson City couple was arrested and charged with a felony charge of child abuse inflicting serious mental or physical injury. The victim in the case was eight weeks old at the time of the alleged offense.
Jason Junior Kuykendall, 24, and Breanna Denise Kuykendall, 22, both of 157 Poppy Drive had a bond set at $50,000 each. They have since been released on bond. Both have since been released on bond.
According to arrest warrants obtained at the county clerk’s office, the charge is for intentionally inflicting serious physical injury of an eight-month-old by fracturing the infant’s left femur bone. The alleged offense took place on May 24, 2017, according to the warrants.
The case is still under investigation.
