Reverend Roy Page Lindsay
Reverend Roy Page Lindsay, a servant of God, Family, and Country, was taken home to Heaven on November 11, 2017, at the age of 72, after battling several cancers for an extended period of time.
Rev. Lindsay, born to Carroll and Hazel Lindsay, was a native of the Wesser Creek Community of Swain County where he resided until the time of his death.
Pastor Roy was dedicated to his faith and was a faithful servant of God until his passing. He was a graduate of Fruitland Bible Institute and earned a Masters in Divinity from Anderson Theological College. He served Maple Springs Baptist Church, Rose Creek Baptist Church, Newman Chapel Baptist Church, Aquone Baptist Church and Bethel Hill Baptist Church during his 40 years of ministry. Pastor Roy’s greatest joy was enthusiastically working for the Kingdom of God and serving Jesus by serving others. While caring for and serving his congregation and community throughout his ministry, he mentored several men who were called into the ministry. He was also a Mason and member of the Oconee Masonic Lodge of Bryson City, NC. Here again, he worked for God and country.
Rev. Lindsay is survived by the love of his life, Beulah Lindsay, one daughter, Tammy Paige Lindsay-Fisher and two grandchildren, Leanna Paige and Jonathon Fisher. Married for 55 years, he worked tirelessly to provide for his family and shared with anyone who needed help. Pastor Roy delighted in his grandchildren with an abundance of love and adoration. He is also survived by one sister, Ruth Grindle, a brother, Scott Lindsay, and many nieces, nephews and other family members. His oldest brother, Quentin Lindsay is deceased.
Rev. Lindsay served his country as a soldier in the Armed Services from 1963-1966. He was in The Big Red One, 1st Infantry, where he spent time in Vietnam. He was a leader of men at a very young age.
A soldier of The Cross and his country, he fought valiantly to the end. Rev. Lindsay possessed a fight and willingness to serve that few possess, and he will be greatly missed by his family, his church, and his community.
