Anita “Jo” Ann Gazda
Anita “Jo” Ann Gazda, 74, of Fontana Lake, passed away Tuesday November 14, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on January 17, 1943 in Baker City, Oregon, the daughter of the late Albert Ullman and the late Anita Ullman.
She attended Wells College in Aurora, NY where she was introduced to her late husband, Bill Gazda, by her brother Ken Ullman. She was married to Bill for 48 years, living in New York, North Carolina and Germany. They retired to Western North Carolina to be close to the mountains where she enjoyed gardening, bird watching and volunteering in her community.
She was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Sylva, taking comfort in her faith and bible studies. She was an exceptionally kind, caring person who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her two daughters- Meg and her husband, Christopher Novak of Chicago, IL, Karen and her husband John Boyne of Raleigh, NC; one son- David Gazda and his wife Jen of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren- Courtney, Trevor and Amber Gazda, Jack and Libby Boyne; two brothers- Ken Ullman and his wife Jeanie of Eagle, ID, Wayne Ullman and his wife Marta of Sammamish, WA; and her cat, Mischief of Fontana Lake, NC.
A memorial service was held 1:00 PM Saturday, November 18 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Sylva with the Rev. Rosemary Peek officiating.
