Our mother was beautiful, talented, gracious and giving. She attended Western Carolina University where she was a scholar and played on the Women’s Basket Ball team. She moved to Atlanta where she met our father Jerry.
Barbara was an excellent cook, and hostess. She composed music, and lyrics, played piano and keyboards and was a member of the Nashville Song Writers Association. She acted in plays and loved to sing. She left behind volumes of songs both written and recorded.
Her career started as an Executive Secretary at AMF Corporation in Atlanta, GA. After moving to Columbus, Ohio she joined Hadassah, one of the largest women’s Zionist organizations. She became the President of the Columbus Chapter and was recognized by the Governor of Ohio for her work as well as the Hadassah Hospital in Israel.
She was a great bowler and won numerous trophies. She was a talented seamstress and great at everything she did from throwing parties, catering, entertaining and making everyone feel welcome in our home.
She traveled and saw the world. She did so much and always encouraged us to be the best we could be, assuring us that we could accomplish anything we set our minds to.
She moved to Chicago and worked in the telecom industry as an Account Executive for companies like Rockwell and Northern Telecom where she won sales awards and paved the way for woman executives in the industry.
Our Mother was strong, compassionate, funny, dramatic and loving above all and she will be greatly missed.
