Bryson City, NC – Bettie M. Seay, who would have been 90 on November 10th, passed away on November 3, 2017 at Four Seasons Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC.

Born in Liverpool, England, she immigrated to the U.S. to marry Walter Seay, a serviceman in the U.S. Air Force, who died 2002. Miss Bettie is preceded in death by her father, Charles Jones, mother Ada Lewis, brothers, Alec and Harry Jones, sister Trixie Jones, brother-in-law, Brian Hanson, all of England.

Bettie Seay served as Executive Director for State of Franklin Health Council, Inc. in Bryson City for 50 years, working full-time up until this past year. The non-profit organization provides a host of services to senior citizens.

Miss Bettie is survived by her daughter, Linda Seay of CT,  “daughter”/co-worker, Marlene Vinson and Susan Brents of NC; beloved sisters, Glenda Hanson and Linda Sheckleston (Robert) of England; stepfather, Frank Lewis of England; grandchildren, Sarah Friedman of NY, Joshua Friedman (Blair Wisdom) of CO, Kelsey Robbins of CT, Stephen Robbins of CT; nieces and nephews, David Hanson (Margaret) of England, Helen Whitlow (Lawrence) of England; great nieces and nephews, Leanne Bostock (Mark) of England, Michael Whitlow of England, Amy Hanson-Bevan (Gavin) of England, Alys Hanson (Richard Marshall) of England, Thom Hanson (Joanna Wood) of England, Daniel Hanson of England, Jill Carroll of England, Stephen Carroll, of England; great, great nieces and nephews, William, Emilia, and David of England.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
