Blanche Monteith, 86, a long-time resident of Bryson City, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening January 27, 2018.
Ms. Monteith was born in 1941 to the late Clifford and Martha Lou Gunter Monteith, in Western North Carolina. She was also preceded in death by her brother Robert Monteith, sister Cosette Monteith, and sister Claudine Parramore.
Blanche will be remembered for many things, including her faith, love of family, close friendships, her servant’s heart, and a very sweet gentle disposition. She spent her life serving others, and was always asking what she could do for you. This gracious gift was on display throughout her restaurant career in Bryson City, including Sneed’s Restaurant, and Na-Bers Drive In, while once earning North Carolina’s “Waitress of the Year.” She also loved to read, work outside, attend church, and treat close friends to her famous Coca-Cola Cake!
She is survived by her nephew Kelvin Monteith, his wife Mary Katheryn, their children Canaan, Landon, and Macarthy, as well as many other close family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at 3:30 pm, at the First Baptist Church of Bryson City, NC.
Arrangements are being handled by Crisp Funeral Home in Bryson City. Family viewing will be available from 11 am to 12 pm Thursday at Crisp Funeral Home.
