Julia Jean Thompson 69, of the Alarka community left us Friday evening November 16 2018 to be with the Lord and to sing in that Angel Band!

She was preceded in death by her father Frank Feduccia and mother Mary Vestel Duran.

In addition to her parents Julia was preceded in death by two sisters, Antoinette and Mary Ann, three brothers Frank, Glenn, and Lloyd

Julia is survived by her loving husband Ronald Lee Thompson. They were married for over 37 years. Julia was introduced to Ron by her high school friend Sara May Tew, whom was with her at the end. She had one son Calvin Glenn Thompson, both Ron and Calvin live in the Alarka Community.  Julia, the loving mother, was always there to help her Calvin through his many trials. She found great comfort in that he is on a level path with the help of his brethren in Christ.  In addition Julia is survived by two brothers, the oldest Charles Feduccia and youngest Mike Feduccia and his wife Doris.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.  A special place in her heart for her niece Edwina Jordan husband Junior, and niece Mary Brock husband Darin, Reagan and Sam their children.

Julia was born in Tampa Florida and grew up in Plant City Florida.  She was mostly raised by her mother in extreme poverty.  I believe this is what helped make her the humble soul she is. She attended Church most of her life at the Church of Christ, first at Cork, near Plant City, then upon coming to the mountains she attended the Church of Christ in Bryson City, Cherokee and Woodland.  Julia and Calvin found a home at the East Alarka Baptist Church. She so loves them!

Julia attended school through High school in Plant City Florida.  She loved to type and was nearly perfect with her spelling and grammar. If she typed a letter it was going to be right. She continued her education the rest of her life at “The School of Hard knocks”. She had wisdom most of us were unaware of!

Julia worked a number of places during her life, mostly doing clerical work. The best job she felt she ever had was at C.F. Industries, a phosphate facility near Plant City.  She worked there 17 years, until she moved to Bryson City in 1996.  In Bryson City she worked with Alana (Wiggins) MeHaffey who became one of her best friends.  They worked for Family Preservation. Other jobs in the area were at Mountain Mediation Services, the Smoky Mountain Times and she retired from Zito Communications.

And last and most of all, Julia Loved To Sing!!  When as a kid she first started singing she was so shy she would stand under a table so no one could see her. She sang in Church and developed a voice as pretty as any you will find. A neighbor friend whom taught music has remarked on numerous occasions how Julia had absolutely perfect pitch. She loved gospel music and Old Country Music. Loretta Lynn was her favorite artist but she was like a walking country music historian.  I bet she knew the words to over 500 songs by heart!  Julia has sung with many bands down thru the years. The last two were the Pointer Pickers, and then the “Smoky Mountain Melodies” in various forms.

She after years of trying got to make an album entitled “Smoky Mountain Country Melodies”. The last song on the album she told us she will always love us!!  Her one regret is that she didn’t get to do a Gospel Album. We will have to meet her in her new home to hear that one!!

Julia was such a kind and Humble Soul!  By the time she left us she had used up her earthly body.  We are so thankful, Lord,  that the pain is now gone and she is in Heaven with you.   Praise God!!!

There will be a celebration of Julia’s life on December 8th from noon until 3pm at Crisp Funeral Home in Bryson City. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to.    Four Seasons. Compassion for Life Foundation.   221 North Main Street.  Hendersonville, NC. 28792-5072

These Angles were there for our Julia at the end Calvin and myself are so thankful they were!

Footnote,  As I have been writing these words about Julia’s life I feel compelled to add this,

I feel like I’ve had two saviors trying to save my life - please let me explain,  My loving wife, Julia has been trying to bring me to Jesus Christ all our time together!  I made her a promise before she left us.  I promised to bring Jesus Christ the one and only savior into my heart!

I pray for Jesus Christ who died on the cross to save me, to come into my heart and wash away my sins, for I know I am a sinner.

Let me read the words of God from the Holy Bible and help me to understand what I need to know and do to find my pathway to Heaven and everlasting salvation.

I humbly submit to you Lord God      Ron
