Have you been a little over indulgent in ice cream sundaes during this hot summer? Are you anxious for fall sports to start?
Well, one way to get your blood pumping is to lace up your tennis shoes and join the Swain County High School girls track team in celebration for the inaugural Moonlight 5K & Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, July 30.
The race is in celebration of the team’s 2016 NCHSAA 1A State Championship and will be a fundraiser for their “Race for the Rings” campaign.
The event seems a surefire way to accomplish two positive goals: one help you be fit and two support the Lady Maroon Devils.
The Bryson City Moonlight 5K will be the highlight for a night of fun at Riverside Park downtown.
The one-mile fun run will start at 7:45 p.m. and the moonlight 5K will begin at 8:15 p.m. The runs will follow an easy course through downtown.

Registration for the 5K is $25 online until Friday and $30 the night of the race. The fun run is $10.
