Hayesville beats Swain
Early on in the Swain County High School varsity baseball Maroon Devils away game against Hayesville Yellow Jackets it was anyone’s game.
Hayesville was up in the first with two runs, but in the second inning the Maroon Devils brought six across the home plate— and things were looking good for the Devils.
Then, things dried up for the Maroon Devils and Hayesville steadily racked up the runs— taking the 9-6 win.
At bat, Dawson Chambers, Daniel Ammons, Jesse Waldroup, Gaige Southards, and Ian Brooks each had one RBI.
The loss brings the Devils overall record to 9-8 and 9-4 in conference.
The Devils fared much better at home when they hosted Andrews Wildcats on Thursday, April 18, taking the 27-17 win.
Brooks led the team with 8 RBIs, followed by Southards and Caleb Talyor had 4 each.
Brooks hit two home runs, and Southards had one home run.
Swain traveled to Blue Ridge Early College for an away game after press time Wednesday.
The Maroon Devils will travel to Robbinsville on Friday and be at home Monday against Pisgah.
