Jenkins 6th at cross country champs, boys place 7th

Ivey Redmon Sports Complex – Senior Ryan Jenkins finished off his high school cross country career in fine fashion this past weekend.  Jenkins finished 6th in the NCHSAA State Championship Cross Country meet.  The finish means that Jenkins was named All-State for his performance, finishing in a time of 17:00.97.  He finished behind runners from Polk County, Lincoln Charter, Franklin Academy, Queens Grant and South Davidson.

As a team, the Maroon Devils finished 7th overall, and 3rd among public school teams.  Top four teams were Lincoln Charter, Franklin Academy, Bishop McGuinness and Community School of Davidson.  Hayesville was 5th and Murphy 6th, with Swain finishing just behind in 7th place.
