Unfortunately, the Lady Devils varsity basketball team just couldn’t pull it off against the Lady Black Knights, last Tuesday, losing their game 56-28.

The Black Knights had some dangerous three-point shooters and defense that proved troubling for Swain, although the girls never gave up the fight.

Lady Devils vs. Andrews

Swain Girls turned their luck around from earlier in the week, with the game against the Lady Wildcats on Friday. The Lady Devils won the home game 61-21 bringing their record to 2-4 this season.

The girl’s showed excellent sportsmanship and teamwork, earning every point of their 40-point win. Highest scoring players for the Lady Devils were Mazie Helpman with 19 points and Amaya Hicks with 17.

Head Coach Joshua Griffith said he is proud of the team for their improvement after the half.

“We came out of the gate sloppy but were able to go into the half with a 25-13 point lead. With a big 21-4 point run we were able to extend the lead and close the door on the Andrews Wildcats,” Coach Joshua Griffith said.
