Maroon Devils make short work of Wildcats
Bryson City – Andrews scored first on Tuesday, but it would be all that the Devils would give up. Swain outscored the Wildcats 11-1 at home to take the Smoky Mountain Conference win. The Maroon Devils scored 2 runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 5th inning to go with a 5 run 4th inning.
The Maroon Devils got a big day from Caleb Taylor, Hunter Call and Brady Kirkland. Call went 2-3 and scored twice with a double to his credit. Caleb Taylor also went 2-3, adding 4 RBI to a pair of runs scored and a double. Kirkland pounded out 3 hits going 3-3 and driving in a pair of runs.
On the hill it was Colby Taylor, who pitched a complete game. Taylor scattered 4 hits and walked only 1 while striking out 8 in earning the win.
The win brought the Devils overall score to 4-1.
The Devils hosted Smoky Mountain on Wednesday after press time. The next game is Friday, March 22 at home against Murphy.
Next week, the Devils will travel to Pisgah on Monday and Erwin on Thursday.
