Last week, the Maroon Devils held the Western Regional Championships of the NCHSAA State 1A Dual Team Championships for one of the first times in Devil’s history.
There were four teams competing in the playoffs that wrestled single elimination tournaments and unfortunately the Devils fell in the first round of the tournament against Robbinsville with a final score of 51-27.
Avery ended up winning the final round of the night to advance to the Team Dual Championship, after beating the Black Knights with a 41-31 win over Robbinsville.
