Senior’s signing day

On Wednesday, Feb. 7, three high school seniors made commitments to continue their athletic careers at the college level.

County High School senior Seth Parker signed with Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, TN to play football. As a Maroon Devil receiver, Parker had 40 receptions for 910 yards and nine touchdowns. He also returned punts and played defense. Swain County High School senior Dewight Winchester signed with Lees McRae College in Banner Elk, NC to be part of the cycling team. Winchester won the 2017 USAT Off-Road 19 and under Championship and was a two time Xterra Southwest Regional Championship winner in 2015 and 2017. Swain County High School senior Brodie Bowman has signed with Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, TN to play football. As a three-year starter for the Maroon Devils at quarterback, Bowman accumulated 3,164 career passing yards. He passed for over 1000 yards and rushed for over 1000 yards his senior season – the first to do so since Heath Shuler.
