The Swain Varsity Cheer team is thrilled to be back for another exciting season and has been working out all summer to get into top shape to cheer on the high school football team and compete in regional and state competitions.
“We have been working on cheer since June! Our girls have been working 3-4 days per week and have been improving so much. They are so excited,” Coach Kassie McMahan said.
The team had three seniors last year but has seven seniors this year. Two of those seniors are this year’s team captains: Mahala Bird and Isabella Garcia.
This season the team will be participating in some prestigious cheer competitions that they haven’t been able to compete in the past few years.
“This year we will be competing at the NC regional and state competition. We are so excited to do that, as we haven’t in years!”
Look for the team pepping up the crowd at the Swain’s first home football game on Friday, Aug. 26 against Smoky Mountain High School!
