Few alive today know what it was like to be a soldier in WWII. Arnold Price, who served in the Army, is one of them. Price was surrounded by family and friends for his 100th birthday on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Mountain View Manor in Bryson City. This special occasion was elevated by the presentation of a Quilt of Valor by Smoky Mountain Quilters.
The theatre was full at Swain Arts Center recently when Swain High School put on its production of “Grease School Version.” The entertainment is scheduled to continue this spring.
Last week, the National Park Service announced that 400 national parks reported a total of 325.5 million visits in 2023, an increase of 13 million or 4% over 2022.
The Swain County High School track teams defended their Conference Championship titles in resounding fashion last Wednesday, May 1 at Cherokee High School.

The Swain High Golf Team competed in the Smoky Mountain Conference Tournament at Mountain Harbour April 25 and Old Edwards Club April 29.
