A call came into tribal dispatch that was transferred to Swain County,” said Jason Ashe, chief deputy at Swain County Sheriff’s Office.
Two people were heard screaming during the 911 call, according to investigators.
“Our deputy got on scene and the victim was transported to Harris and airlifted to Mission,” said Ashe.
Multiple shots were fired by what was believed to be a semi-automatic weapon. The victim received gun wounds to the abdomen and hand.
“During the course of the investigation, information was gained and it was believed that he (Reynosa) was being assisted by a female we were able to identify as Kristen Ramsey,” Ashe said. “At that point, federal, state and local resources were mobilized to try to figure out their location and take them into custody.”
Both individuals were arrested without incident and await bond hearings at Jackson County Jail.
