Last week, the Maroon Devils baseball team took on the Murphy Bulldogs twice in one week. Their first game was at Murphy on Tuesday, March 15 and then at home Thursday, March 17.

The first game against Murphy was a close one with the Bulldogs starting off strong but the Devils fighting back at the end.

In the first inning, Murphy scored 2 to Swain’s 0 and neither team scored in the second. In the third inning, Murphy and Swain both put one on the board, which was followed by two more scoreless innings for both teams. Swain pushed ahead in the 6th inning scoring three runs, ending the game with 4-3 for a Maroon Devils win.

Gabe Lillard, Lawson Woodard, Carson Taylor, and Carter Hayes each had one run against Murphy. Will Jenkins had two runs batted in and Carter Hayes had one. Gabe Lillard and Carter Hayes had one stolen bases and Lawson Woodard had two.

Unfortunately, Murphy got their revenge at Swain’s home game on Friday with an 8-1 loss for the Devils.
