Devils stand out at WNC Polar Bear Championships

On the boys side, the 4×800 team, Connor Brown, Connor Lambert, Carl Baird, and Kane Jones better their seed time and finished 2nd. Kane Jones set a new PR in the 500, David Dingle set a PR in the Long Jump, Austin Jenkins set a PR in the 300, and Cory Wolf set a PR in the 3200. Connor Brown finished 3rd in the 1600, Austin Jenkins finished 2nd in the 55 hurdles. As a team, the boys placed 6th.

The girls team started out the meet finished 1,2, and 3 sweeping the high jump as Gracie Sutton set an indoor PR winning the championships at 5-2, Alden Thomas and Naomi Feagin finished 2nd and 3rd.

Naomi continued her day by winning the long jump with a 15-5 PR and qualifying for the NCHSAA championships, then she started the girls 4×200 team with Sienna Hackshaw, Marlee Hicks, and Cora Watkins finishing 2nd with a down to the wire finish as Sienna pulled out a season best 1:55.5. Amelia Rogers finished 2nd in pole vault. Faith Woodard finished 3rd in shot put with a PR of 31-9.5. Melani Linton came in 2nd in the 55 hurdles, Arizona Blankenship won the mile with a PR 5:20. Annie Lewis won the 500 with a big PR of 1:22.2.

Our young women in the 1000 went 1,2, and 3 with PR’s from Amaya Hicks (3:20.5) and Gracie Monteith (3:21.2) and Angel Lomeli finished third. Kiersten Smith finished 2nd in the triple jump. The girls also won the WNC Championships by 35 points.
