Last Wednesday, the wrestling team traveled to Enka for the Enka Jet Invitational, for a great start to the season.

Tyce Neadeau placed first ( Heavyweight), Gabe Lillard (170) and Blake Sain (195) both placed 4th and Adam Cotterman (138) and Carson Taylor (220) finished in fifth.

“I want to thank everyone for their efforts on this day. We talk as a program about there are no “bad” days when we are competing, just opportunities to learn from our mistakes and come away better,” Coach Jaimez said by email. “We came away with some great lessons and we will apply those to our next opportunity to better ourselves. Thank you to everyone that helped feed our guys! We’re blessed to have a great group of guys.”

Lady Devils

It’s been a long but exciting week for the Lady Devils Wrestlers!

They wrestled this past Saturday in the Lady Devils Invitational and then competed Wednesday in the North Knights Ladies Invitational. There were 15 teams at the tournament and the Lady Devils brought home a hard fought third place finish.

Placers included Emmy Everhardt in first place, Tasia Neadeau in second place, Isabelle Lambert in first place, Rain Cooper in second place, Chloe Lambert in third place, Savannah Cunningham in third place, and JC Parsons in fourth place.

“We are lucky to have such a great group of ladies that have the courage to put themselves out and try to better themselves at the expense of sometimes having momentary setbacks along that journey,” Coach Jaimez said. “Yet, despite those setbacks, these ladies are learning they are ever evolving into the best versions of themselves through those times. Thank you, ladies for placing your trust in us as coaches to help you grow and get better every day!”

Several of the JV team placed also, according to Coach Adam Jaimez.

Swain’s next match will be Saturday, Dec. 4 at Townes County.
