Henderson dominates at Sequoyah, Old Edwards

The Swain County Men’s Golf team faced a grueling two-day stretch this week, competing at Sequoyah National Golf Club on April 13 and Old Edwards Club on April 14.
The highlight of the week belonged to junior Dean Henderson, who turned into a series of dominant performances to lead the field.

April 13 at Sequoyah National

In Monday's action, Henderson fired an impressive even-par 36 to claim first place overall.

As a team, Swain posted a 202 (+58), securing a third place finish.

• Liam Greene (Jr.): 62 (+26)

 

April 14 at Old Edwards Club

The Devils returned to the links the following day for an 18-hole marathon at Old Edwards, played as two separate nine-hole scoring rounds. Henderson stayed hot, leading the first nine with a 41 (+5) and torching the second nine with a 2-under-par 34.
The team showed grit as the day progressed, shaving 10 strokes off their total in the second half of the day to jump from fifth to fourth place in the standings.

Charlie Gray scored a 51 (+15) on the first nine (Par 36) and 49 (+13) on the second nine (Par 36)
Liam Greene scored a 61 (+25) on the first nine (Par 36) and 59 (+23) on the second nine (Par 36)
Tag Carson scored a 60 (+24) on the first nine (Par 36) and 59 (+23) on the second nine (Par 36) Drake Cruz scored a 59 (+23) on the first nine (Par 36) and 63 (+27) on the second nine (Par 36)
 

"Conference play is quickly approaching,” stated head coach Josh Crisp. “Walking 18 holes is hard, not only physically but mentally as well. I am so proud of this team and all the work they are putting in.”
