The Lady Devils softball team lost to the Owen Warlassies in the teams’ first meeting on Monday, April 17 in a 3-2 game that ended up being close.

Owen placed two runs in the first, then getting another in the third inning. During the first several innings, Swain didn’t score at all and only got one hit from Hannah Shuler in the fifth inning.

However, Swain began to mount a comeback in the first half of the sixth, when Carley Teesateskie and Maddie Spates got back to back singles.

Then Rylee Rawls hit into a fielders choice as Owen forced Teesateskie at third base. Haileigh Woodard hit a line down right field and scored both Spates and Molleigh Woodard – the latter running for Rawls.

The Devils didn’t get to score again for the rest of the night, however, though they did threaten to in the seventh inning as they had runners on first and second. But in the end, they were unable to tie the game.

The next game is scheduled for Friday, April 21 at home, when they’ll play Owen again.
