Swain County Wrestling’s 2021-22 season kicked off this past Saturday at home competing against 12 teams from all over the west.
“We finished 4th overall and we had 7 placers on the day. We were short-handed due to football finishing up and kids needing to get healed up, but all in all, I’m proud of the way we had some kids step up and compete the way that they did,” said Coach Adam Jaimez.
Placers were as follows: 106- Kale Stephenson 3rd, 113- Noah Rowe 4th, 138- Adam Cotterman 2nd, 145- Austin Jenkins 4th, 152- Israel Ferguson 3rd, 195- Blake Sain 3rd, Hwt- Tyce Neadeau 3rd.
“We had several girls place on the girls side of the tournament, I believe we finished 3rd overall as a team (Franklin took the team title). I believe our girls are going to get better and better with each outing,” Coach Jaimez said.
Placers were as follows: 106- Savannah Cunningham 4th, 120- JC Parsons 4th, 126- Chole Lambert 2nd, 126- Isabel Lambert 4th, 132- Emmy Everhardt 1st, 132- Erika Wachacha 2nd, 145- Tasia Neadeau 1st, 195- Rain Cooper 2nd.
Swain were back in action on the Nov. 24, after press, when the boys will be at Enka and the girls will be at North Henderson.
