Swain athletes compete at Special Olympics

Approximately 25 students from the Swain County School System competed in the Special Olympics hosted by Jackson County on Friday, May 5. Athletes competed in various events and had a wonderful day of friendly competition, fun and socialization. Each student athlete was paired with a staff member that accompanied them throughout the day and everyone walked away a winner.  Thank you to Deep Creek Baptist Church for providing water for everyone and Refuge Church for the snacks. Everyone left with smiles and memories that will last a lifetime.
