Swain County was honored to host the Far West Regional Special Olympics. The event brought together more than 200 athletes from across the region, including participants from Swain, Graham, Cherokee, Macon, Clay, and Cherokee County. The day was filled with excitement, determination, and community spirit as athletes competed, connected, and celebrated their accomplishments.
Local sponsors, local businesses, churches, and community members as well as volunteers from Swain County High School worked diligently to ensure that every athlete left with a smile on their face!
“This event would not have been possible without the incredible support from our community,” said Lee Hyatt, local coordinator for Special Olympics. “From planning to execution, it truly took everyone working together to create such a meaningful experience for our athletes.”
