Before long, the leaves will start to change and soon voters will be deciding on changes for elected offices. With the 2022 Election Day being Tuesday, Nov. 8, election season activities will begin this month.
“We have been busy proofing ballots that should be at our office any day now, preparing absentee requests to start sending ballots out beginning Sept. 9, and updating various forms, which had to be updated due to law changes regarding felons and assistance to disabled voters,” shared Judy Allman, Swain County Elections Director. “And, thanks to Kay Winchester Michael Lindsay and Anna Fuller for all of that.”
Absentee voting by mail begins tomorrow, Sept. 9 and the voter registration deadline will be Oct. 14 at 5 p.m. Absentee one-stop ends Nov. 5 and absentees must be returned by election day.
This year’s general election will decide may elected offices in Swain County including sheriff and the make-up of both the board of education and county commission.
