On Monday, Dec. 1, Swain County Sheriff’s Office deputies along with Cherokee Indian Police, ATF, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the DEA conducted a search warrant at Jeff Watson’s residence at 255 Sherill Road for possession and sell of methamphetamine.
There were 12 people in the house at the time the warrant was executed, according to a release from the Swain County Sheriff’s Office. Jeffery Vernon Watson and Tashina Michele Murphy were arrested on the scene and transported to the Swain County Detention Center.
Watson was charged with felony maintaining a place for controlled substance (meth) and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia .
Murphy was charged with felony possession of meth. Watson was given a $50,000 secured bond and is still in jail. Murphy received a $10,000 bond and has since been released on bond.
“There have been numerous complaints from the community about drug activity at this residence. Be assured that we are working tirelessly to remove as many drug dealers as we can from all communities, said Swain County Sheriff Curtis Cochran. “Thanks to the public for their interest in helping to keep Swain County as safe as possible.”
