Local Author Cheryl Lynn Grant Maxey, 62, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord and her son on Friday May 29, 2020. A longtime resident of Bryson City she was the daughter of Kate Sawyer of Bryson City and the late Willard Grant. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Terry Ledford, and a son Joshua Kent Maxey.
She is survived by her mother Kate Sawyer and husband Joe of Bryson City; one daughter, Katie Butler and husband Matt of Conyers, GA; one son, Eli James Maxey of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Joshua Maxey, Emily Butler, Chase Butler, and Mason Butler; the partner in caring for their children and family, W. Kent Maxey; three siblings, Vera Harrison and husband Leroy and family, Michael Grant and family, and James Grant and family.
Funeral services were held 2:00 PM Wednesday at Crisp Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. John Tagliarini officiated with burial at Swain Memorial Park.
The family received friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
