George Valentine went to his heavenly home on Christmas morning.

Born in Oyster Bay, NY, he moved with his family to Fort Lauderdale, FL as a boy. He graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School in 1946. He attended UNC Chapel Hill and graduated with a degree in mathematics.

He served in the US Army and upon discharge, he attended Florida State University where he earned a Masters Degree in School Counseling and where he met Mary Jackson, who would become his wife of sixty three years.

They returned to Fort Lauderdale where he taught at Parkway Junior High and Stranahan High School and raised a family. After retirement, they moved to Flagler Beach, FL and split time between there and a summer home in Whittier, NC.

George was an accomplished swimmer, lifeguard and swim coach. He was a member of Sigma Chi and a lifelong Episcopalian.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, father George, mother Sarah Elizabeth, and sister Jean.

He is survived by his sons George (Janet) and Kent (Dawna), daughter Jean Whisnant, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The family will plan a memorial at a later date when it is safe to gather.
