The record setting continues for some of the Swain High Indoor Track team members. Arizona Blankenship and Annie Lewis traveled to Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia recently to compete in the Liberty Premiere Invitational.
Blankenship won the 3200 meter run with an incredibly fast time of 10:43.09, the 4th fastest 3200 in the entire USA this year. Blankenship also had another great 1600 meter run with a time of 4:59.78, her second sub-5:00 time in the event. At the Swain High track, Blankenship also set a school record in the 3200 meter run in a time of 10:42 and Lewis set a new school record in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:57.
Lewis had a fantastic day in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:57.79, which is 23rd fastest in the USA. Nse Uffort is also in the national spotlight with a shot put of 60’ 2” which is the 19th farthest put in the USA this season.
“These kids never cease to amaze me,” said Head Coach Ian Roper.
The Indoor Track team will travel to the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem today (Thursday).
