The Swain High Golf Team competed in the Smoky Mountain Conference Tournament at Mountain Harbour April 25 and Old Edwards Club April 29. The team finished fifth overall with a team score with a team total of 851.

Murphy took first place (722), Robbinsville second (738), Cherokee third (821), Highlands fourth (824), Hayesville sixth (862), Blue Ridge seventh (871), and Andrews eighth (917).

Leading the young team was senior Reese Winchester shooting a 99 (+27) at Mountain Harbour and a 96 (+24) at Old Edwards Inn. He also earned Honorable Mention Honors for the tournament.

Junior Landon Harrison finished his first round with a 98 (+26) and his second round with a 101 (+29).

Both Reese and Landon have qualified for the 1A West Regional Tournament on Monday, May 6 at Mountain Harbour.

Competing for the Maroon Devils was sophomore Jon Stephenson finishing his tournament with a 104 (+32) and a 111 (+39) and Junior Daniel Nations with a 120 (+48) and 122 (+50).

“I am so extremely proud of all my players,” stated Coach Crisp, “their work ethic shows that they are working hard on the practice range and it is paying off on the course! Excited to see what the future holds for this team.”
