Maroon Devils compete in Polk County Reindeer Games

Last Wednesday, the Devils track team traveled to Columbus, NC to Polk County High School for the Polk County Reindeer Games. Swain was one of 16 teams to compete at the event.

For the boys 55-meter dash, Landon Matz placed 6th with 7.06, Gavin Roland in 22nd with 7.66, and Jackson Pittard in 24th with 7.71, where just a matter of seconds made the difference. In the 500-meter Kane Jones was 5th with 1:13.84, Gavin Roland in 13th with 1:18.26, and Jackson Pittard in 23rd with 1:24.66 and in the 1000-meter Jaxon McClung was in 19th with 3:27.46. In the 1600-meter Corey Wolf was 14th with 5:38.56 and Spencer Roland was 28th with 6:24.74.

In 55-meter hurdles, Austin Jenkins was 4th followed by Brendan Lanning in 12th and Kelan McCullough was 9th in long jump. In triple jump Matthew Gray came in 2nd, with Austin Jenkins in 4th and Shiloh Woodson in 5th.

 

 

Lady Devils

In the girls 500 meter, Amaya Hicks was 5th with 1:27.88, followed by Lilah Foster in 21st with 1:45.10 and in the 1000-meter Gracie Monteith finished in 2nd with 3:33.97. Arizona Blankenship was in an impressive first place in the 1600-meter run against 15 other runners.

In the 55-meter hurdles, Ameila Rogers finished 10th and Melanie Linton was 14th. Gracie Sutton was 2nd in high jump and Isabella Walker was in 8th and Kiersten Smith in 14th for long jump. Kiersten Smith was 2nd in triple jump followed by Isabella Walker in 3rd. For pole vault, Ameila Rogers was second and Hannah Wingate was 15th.

Indoor track continues a successful season in the New Year on Saturday, Jan. 8 with another meet in Winston Salem at JDL Fast Track.
